WAR

WAR

War has always been a great source of inspiration for art, whether it is political imagery or no, the subject has produced many images by a vast amount of artists.

Throughout the duration of my college course I have begun to understand and continue practicing different aspects of art, prioritising in drawing and painting, making them my specialist subjects. By focusing on these areas, my practice has noticeably improved during my time on the course. I intend to continue practicing these areas, majority drawing throughout my FMP, to eventually create my final outcome using different aspects of drawing painting and collaging.

I intend to research different characteristics of war, to help me to decide which route to take as I progress to my final outcome. I plan on using a variety of different mediums in a series of collages and investigatory imagery and discovering which aspect of way I believe is most interesting.

Although it may be difficult, I want to be as impartial towards the subject as possible.

My primary research will be hard to come across, as it was during my last FMP, I don’t have the required accessibility to the subject, as I don’t have either the funding or time to travel to certain war zones etc., I plan on using mostly secondary research as a reference and eventually, using imagery of my own as a reference in my work and altering it for the purpose of the project.

I have looked into several artists, such as war artist, photographers and none war based artists who practice different mediums and styles I found useful, using these artists I have been able to see the side of war I wanted to.

I plan on using both peer and tutor feedback to help develop my work.

As I researched the subject, I have used several different sources, such as books, documentaries and visual references from the internet.
